Last week the Vikings received the good news of the return of the quarterback Brett Favre to play his twentieth season in the NFL. However, "The General" could play without his top receiver during the first half of the 2010 season.
The Minnesota Vikings wide receiver, Sidney Rice underwent hip surgery and could miss the half of the season or more, something to consider for the fans of the NFL betting.
The Pro Bowler suffered a hip injury in the NFC Championship game of last January against the New Orleans Saints and because of it he lost all the training camp of the Vikings team.
The reports said that Rice was looked at by three specialists during the offseason and two of them suggested him to undergo surgery.
Last season, Rice caught 83 passes for 1.312 yards, eight touchdowns and earned his first Pro Bowl selection in 2009.
Rice?s injury is bad news for the Vikings team, taking into account that the wide receiver Percy Harvin has been struggling with some migraine headaches and has missed the most of the practices.
However, the Vikings signed on Tuesday wide receiver Javon Walker, who played with Favre in the team of the Green Bay Packers.
Walker will enter his ninth NFL season and achieved his best record in 2004, in which caught 89 passes for 1.382 yards, 12 touchdowns and became one of the top receivers in the league.
But the eight-year veteran, Walker suffered a knee injury in the 2006 season and has been plagued by knee and ankle injuries during the past seasons with the Denver Broncos and the Oakland Raiders.
